Communities and Social Performance (CSP) is a global team providing expertise and advice across all aspects of external affairs, stakeholder engagement, social risk management and community engagement.
We are looking for an Advisor – Communities & Social Performance to support the delivery of strategy, policy and standards development across the broad range of activities associated with the Communities & Social Performance area for RTX projects in Angola.

This role is a great opportunity for a CSP practitioner who enjoys the challenges in supporting the business in driving greater CSP performances across our Chiri Diamond project in Angola. Based in Saurimo, you will be working on rotation (3/1 and 3/2). Working and reporting to the Principal Advisor – Communities & Social Performance (CSP) RTX, you will be
Applying professional knowledge and expertise to advise on, implement and deliver key Communities and Social Performance initiatives, systems and/or Contributing to improvements in processes, procedures, and policies within the business Adapts and helps implement RTX CSP structures, systems and strategies at the Chiri project in Angola, including stakeholder management plans and systems and project level risk profiles and plans. Developing and maintaining favourable relationships with the surrounding community and internal and external Representing the organization at community gatherings and/or role-related Coordinating programs or activities to promote goodwill and mutual benefit, by disseminating information to the community and soliciting feedback from stakeholders where Assisting with evaluating CSP aspects of new projects/opportunities, as required. Facilitating knowledge sharing across RTX Africa in relation to CSP, including developing training materials and providing training. Supporting CSP reporting in RTX including progress against targets, social and environmental reporting, incident reporting and PtO investment reporting. Assisting with land access planning, including contributing to permitting activities as and when required Work with the broader CSP teams to identify possible CSP/SI projects that may be a valuable addition to the community Working with in the RTX organisation to address any possible external risks to reputation inc. working with ASM, local co-operatives, local SI projects
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
Fluent in the Portuguese and English language. Knowledge of Tchoke would be considered an advantage Demonstrated experience in Communities and Social Performance with direct operational and/or field experience being a key advantage Demonstrated expertise in dealing with diverse and complex cultural and community challenges in the Lunda-Sol region. Demonstrated experience in project managing and working through a networked organization in achieving results. Effective influencing skills when engaging with leaders internally and externally Ability to multitask, prioritise and organise a number of concurrent issues under tight time pressure Ability to assess and awareness of significant potential risk factors in the communityUnderstanding of basic business governance and transparency requirements inc. the importance of ethics and compliance

Experience working in the mining & metals/ extractive sectors, preferably with experience in exploration Experience working in Angola, local knowledge of Saurimo is desirable and knowledge of local culture, languages will be highly
Where you will be working
Rio Tinto Exploration has successfully concluded negotiations with Endiama and MIREMPET on the Chiri Project and are now looking to recruit an Angolan team to help deliver the technical and economic feasibility study. The work programme would entail the evaluation of the Chiri Kimberlite pipe by means ground geophysical surveys, core and large diameter drilling, logging, sampling, processing and modelling of the results. The project area is located 30km north of Saurimo in the Lunda Sul Province.
