Established in 1998, and ideally located in Angola’s Lobito Bay,
Sonamet has become one of the most important construction companies in the region.
Sonamet is a joint venture between Sonangol, Subsea 7 and WAPO with two main business units:
– Fabrication in Lobito
– EPC/EPCI projects in Luanda and Lobito
OVERVIEW
Taking a “Made in Angola” approach to work, Sonamet’s goal is to actively participate in the transfer of technology to Angolan industry.
At the peak of its activity, Sonamet has the capacity to execute 3 million productive manhours and employ around 2,500 people. Majority of its employees are Angolans, and the company is recognized as a model of success for both local development and knowledge transfer in Africa.
Since the beginning, Sonamet has been committed to continuously improving the quality of the operations and products it provides for the oil and gas industry, focusing on completely fulfilling the safety and environmental requirements. Its Quality Management System was granted ISO 9001:2000 certification, in 2011.
Sonamet is actively involved in the growth of local communities and the sustainable development of the Benguela province, as the improvement of local content and the commitment to sustainability are key factors in Sonamet´s business philosophy.
